Mark Carl Rom’s latest addition to his project, Profiles from America’s Public Libraries: Finding the Women Who Make Them, is attached below–enjoy! It includes an intriguing story about a bookmobile sent to Spain. The Women of the Hyde County Public Library, North Carolina
Brief Description: Marjorie Beal, Elizabeth House, Minnie Morris, Thelma Lewis, and Mary Wilson are among women duly recognized in Barbara King Walker’s history of the BHM Regional Library in North Carolina. A copy of Barbara’s history (without further biographical details) appears on the library’s website. In one happy story, an actual bookmobile was delivered to Spain, a “gift of the clubwomen of eastern North Carolina through the agency of the BHM Library.”
