2025 Holley Lecture at the American Library Association Conference in room 117 of the Pennsylvania Convention Center. Dr. George Boudreau, Executive Director of the Ebenezer Maxwell Mansion, presented “Complicating the Past: Historic Sites Interpretation and the Challenges of a More Accurate History.” You can find Dr. Boudreau’s web site, including his list of publications, at https://gwbphd.com/Another view of the audience at the 2025 Holley Lecture. Around 50-60 people attended, a wonderful turnout.Dr. George Boudreau presents a slide stating “Chronology is important, but one site can tell many stories, over time.” The official conference description for his lecture: “Historic sites are increasingly reimagining the narratives they tell. Using new archives, physical spaces, and objects, sites are questioning assumptions and reworking longstanding narratives. At this lecture from the Library History Round Table, historian George W. Boudreau will examine noteworthy work being carried out by public historians and challenge others to rethink what they are telling their visitors.”
