The Greenville Eight: The Integration of the Greenville Public Library

We’re thrilled to share this story that Dr. Wayne Wiegand sent to us.  Jillian Costello, a ninth grade honors student in Rhode Island, recently created an outstanding documentary about the Greenville Eight, the eight black students who desegregated the Greenville (SC) Pubic Library in 1960. She developed this video for her History Day project.  Jillian‘s project has already won second place in Rhode Island, and she is headed to the national History Day competition at the University of Maryland in a few weeks!  Watch her inspiring video on YouTube here, and let’s root for her to win the national competition!
