Exhibit 1: “Tianyi Ge” (天一閣) (Tianyi Pavilion or Tianyi Chamber) in Ningbo, China

Raymond Pun, ALA President 2025-2026, LHRT member, and librarian for the Alder Graduate School of Education, supplied these photos of the beautiful collections of Tianyi Ge. He writes that “this is the oldest private library in China dating back to 1561 during the Ming dynasty. I had a class tour visiting libraries in China in June 2009 and we visited Tianyi Ge briefly to look at the exhibits and collections. They had an exhibit on mahjong in 2009, and the collections contained stone inscriptions dating back to the 16th century.”
