Greetings from New York!
I am excited to join the Library History Roundtable as Member at Large.
Over the past decade, I’ve created installations, short documentaries, audio pieces, installations and exhibits exploring themes of power, memory, identity and access in libraries and collaborated with The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, The John Rylands Library and Manchester Central Library to bring these projects to life. I am looking forward to working with LHRT to support and highlight research into library histories and to expand opportunities for the publication of new forms of library history scholarship.
I earned my MA in visual anthropology from the University of Manchester in the UK, my MLIS from Pratt Institute in New York City and am currently the Liaison to the School of Professional Studies at New York University Libraries.
It’s a wonderful development to welcome Amanda as an elected member of the LHRT Executive Committee – too often we assume the best way to tell history is to write about it – at the expense of imagining how the curatorial arts also offer a universe of ways to tell about and entice interest. I’m looking forward to exploiting Amanda’s creativity and perspectives in how we address the challenges before us.
